- Azur - A chic, open-air poolside spot perfect for a leisurely lunch.
After a long travel day, I indulged in a 90-minute Royal Hammam treatment at the spa—a purifying, deeply relaxing ritual that set the tone for an unforgettable trip.
Sunset Camel Rides & Stargazing in the Agafay Desert
A 45-minute off-road journey took me to Inara Camp, an ultra-luxurious glamping retreat in the heart of the Agafay Desert. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a traditional Moroccan tea ceremony, followed by what became one of the most magical experiences of my life—a sunset camel ride across the golden-hued landscape.
The night unfolded in the most enchanting way:
- Live traditional music & storytelling
- Breadmaking over an open fire
- Belly dancing & henna tattoos
- A mesmerizing fire eater performance
Dinner was served in a private tented setup under the stars, the perfect end to an unforgettable night. Whether for a day trip or an overnight escape, Agafay offers an experience unlike any other—and with ever-changing entertainment, no two nights are the same.
La Mamounia: The Glamorous Heart of Marrakech
Next, I checked into La Mamounia, Marrakech’s legendary palace hotel known for its Moorish opulence, lush gardens, and iconic tilework. The place to see and be seen, La Mamounia is where old-world glamour meets modern luxury.
A true highlight of my stay was a Moroccan street food tour, winding through the lively Jemaa el-Fnaa square. I sampled:
- Sfenj (Moroccan donuts)
- Tagine & Tangia
- Escargot from a bustling street stall
- Freshly squeezed orange juice, a must-try in Marrakech
Jemaa el-Fnaa is a spectacle—snake charmers, storytellers, and musicians fill the square, making it an electric hub of culture and history.
Exploring the Soul of Marrakech
On our full city tour, we immersed ourselves in Marrakech’s rich heritage:
- Koutoubia Mosque – The largest mosque in Marrakech, towering over the city skyline.
- The Medina & Souks – A labyrinth of treasures, from handmade leather goods to dazzling Moroccan lanterns.
- Madrasa Ben Youssef – A former Islamic school with breathtaking architecture.
- The Jewish Quarter – A deep dive into Marrakech’s diverse cultural history.
A highlight? A vintage sidecar tour, cruising through the vibrant streets with a front-row seat to the city’s incredible energy.
An Authentic Farewell in the Atlas Mountains
On our last full day, we ventured 90 minutes into the Atlas Mountains, where we hiked to a traditional Berber home. Here, we experienced a hands-on cooking class hosted by a local Berber family, learning the art of crafting Moroccan dishes from scratch.
The perfect grand finale? Dinner at Kasbah Tamadot, Richard Branson’s luxurious retreat in the mountains. The contrast between Marrakech’s vibrant streets and the peaceful, dramatic scenery of the Atlas Mountains was the perfect way to end an incredible adventure.
